TROPICA® – Chinese Juniper (Scientific name: Juniperus Chinese) – 30 Seeds
Worth remembering: The Chinese Juniper is an evergreen plant that grows in rocky mountains. Therefore, it is able to survive long periods without rain, including long periods of frost with no problems at all. Very popular among bonsai beginners. The rough bark comes with the beautiful red-brown color and its needles are green. Having in mind that the trunk and the branches are very flexible, this little tree is perfectly suited for bonsai art and there are some species that are almost 800 years old.
Origin: Asia, mostly from Japan and China.
Maintenance: This tree is a cold germination plant, which means it requires frost to develop the anti-germination substances from the seeds. You need to place the seeds in a small bowl, which is filled with sand and then put it in a freezer for at least one week. Then, press the seeds 1 inch deep into moisten soil or sandy soil, make it’s evenly moist and move the container in a cooled place for 3-10 weeks until germination takes place.
Place / Light: The Chinese Juniper can withstand full sun, but it should spend the summer in special half-shaded places.
Care: Water the Chinese Juniper regularly during its growing period, in order to ensure its constant growth. Naturally, it will grow much slower during the periods without rains or water.
